The Eriksvik house is a semi-detached house, containing two living spaces, each with two storeys. Because of local building regulations demanding a pitched roof, the gable elevations show a perfectly traditional house with a single-pitch roof. But a geometrical cut-away creates a triangular roof terrace on each side, one for each living space.
The internal staircases are right-angled relative to the triangular terraces making the upper living rooms perfectly rectangular.
