The concept for the Ribbon sofa was inspired by a traditional toy called the Jacob’s Ladder. A Jacob’s ladder is a folk toy consisting of blocks of wood held together by ribbons. When the ladder is held at one end, blocks appear to cascade down the strings.

The seat podium comes in a couple of different sizes, one sofa and one easy chair. The backrest is sectioned in one, two or three-units. Each section is hinged with heavy ribbons (like a Jacob’s ladder) so that the backrest can be folded and positioned and re-positioned in endless variations. The backrests rest in position only by friction and weight.
